Mobility and Frailty Live-In Care
Certain Care provides personalised live-in care and support for patients with poor mobility and frailty. Mobility issues are a major problem among the UK’s aging population, and the problem is growing as life expectancies increase. Poor mobility and frailty are not illnesses, but are instead progressive issues associated with the body’s natural ageing process.
Research suggests that around one in every four seniors over the age of 85 is frail. However, issues with mobility can begin affecting adults much earlier, with up to 5% of people aged 60 and over encountering mobility problems.
At Certain Care, our goal is to provide the specialist support you and your loved ones need to enjoy round-the-clock peace of mind. From housework to health and safety, cooking to companionship, our carers cover all requirements from the comfort of patients’ homes.

In-Home Care for Mobility Issues and Frailty
Knowing where to draw the line with frailty or mobility issues is important, enabling appropriate help and support to be sought at the right time.
Frailty and mobility issues can be physically and psychologically debilitating, though can also lead to an elevated risk of the following:
1. Falls, slips, trips and general accidents or injuries around the home
2. Immobility than can make it difficult or impossible to stand or sit up
3. Delirium, confusion, panic, anxiety and issues with memory loss
4. Incontinence, which may be gradual or accelerated in its onset
5. Susceptibility to side effects of medication and poor medication management
Evidence suggests that one of the biggest issues with frailty is that many of those affected do not realise they are at risk. Some are unaware of the extent of the difficulties they are facing, while others are unwilling to accept the frailty that is clearly affecting their lives.

Mobility & Frailty Care FAQs
An individual may be exhibiting the signs of frailty if they experience rapid weight loss, suffer from exhaustion when conducting routine tasks, have an increasingly slow walking speed and/or can no longer grip objects firmly.
While frailty can accelerate the onset of death, it is often possible to stop it in its tracks or even reverse it. This can be done by helping seniors stay as active as practically possible, keeping them safe from debilitating trips and falls, promoting good nutrition and monitoring their medication intake.
A specialist frailty care worker or team will do everything they can to provide the personalised support their patients need to live healthy, happy and dignified lives. Where possible, a support program will involve a wide variety of activities aimed at stopping the progression of frailty, or even reversing it to boost the patient’s independence.
